Ontario, Canada

I am always looking at trips just dreaming of the next destination. We already have quite a few trips booked but you never know when a great deal will just appear.

I found flights to Buffalo leaving Saturday morning and returning Sunday evening since Miranda couldn’t get off early Friday. The flight had a tight connection in Washington but I thought let’s try it. For 9k points and $11 I thought why not. A 32 Minute connection is to tight but I checked the previous flights all week and they were just 1 section apart with a 7-10 minute walk. Well that is someone with 2 good feet, I wasn’t thinking about Miranda in a boot making it a little longer.

We took off on time and arrived to the gate with 20 minutes before boarding. The flight attendant asked for everyone to stay seated so that we could make our connection, surprisingly everyone stayed seated until we got to the door, Miranda went off and left me on the way to the next flight, she has got this walking in a boot down pat now. We get on the runway and there is a sensor giving them trouble so we had to go back to the terminal and wait on the repair. I think we both fell asleep during the wait which was about an hour. They got it corrected and away we went.

Now we arrived grab the rental car and off we went to Canada. We stopped and grabbed a bite to eat and went to Trader Joe’s and got some snacks for our stay. We arrived to the Sheraton Fallsview, and all I can say is wow. We just sat in the chairs and enjoyed the view for hours. Our room had a door with a Juliet balcony you could stand on, we just left the door open and listened to the calming sound of the water rushing over the falls. We went down and had the buffet, it wasn’t anything special but to eat with the view made it worth it. Everything around had tourist prices so this was just fine. We went back to the room and sit and enjoyed the falls all light up after dark. Then at 10pm there was a fireworks show to celebrate my birthday on Sunday. I am not sure what time we went to bed but the falls was just amazing to sit and listen to the water rushing over them.

We woke up Sunday to Allen calling us from China to wish me a happy birthday, he has been there a week and still hasn’t figured out the time difference. We got up and sit with a cup of coffee and a scone from Trader Joe’s, I wasn’t paying $25 for a continental breakfast, and just enjoyed the different angle of the sun hitting the falls making it look totally different than the day before.

Now here we are loaded up back on the plane heading home. Until the next adventure.

Life is a journey, make the most of it.
