Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa Review.

We arrived at the Punta Cana airport. It is small and easy to navigate. Once through customs we go outside and find our transportation to the resort. We take a short 20 minute ride to Secrets Cap Cana Resort and Spa.

This was no ordinary lunch buffet, there was a seafood section that consisted of oysters, large shrimp, crab legs, and lobster. There was fresh rolled sushi and prime rib along with hand carved ham and a pasta station where you can have pasta cooked anyway you wanted. Then the dessert bar with hand dipped ice cream and twenty or more different types of desserts to enjoy. Once we finished lunch we walked outside and met with Matiel who would be our butler for the week.

Matiel took us to our room and explained where everything was and made sure to let us know that he is there for anything we needed no matter how small or big. Once in the room, oh what a room with a dining table and large sitting area separate from the bedroom with a ½ bath along with the large spa style bathroom. While I went to work Miranda found her way down to the beach and staked her claim to a nice set of lounge chairs under a parasol. That is where she met Vanessa, the beach waitstaff, and she was on her game the whole week. Never once did our glass get empty without her asking what we wanted.

The beach was clean and large. It was a very large beach with plenty of chairs with shade. They kept the seaweed cleaned up and the beach was clear most of the time we were there. The ocean was clear with some grass which was nice because it held the fish and sea life you can see while snorkeling.

The restaurants were on the smaller side but we only had to wait two nights and it wasn’t to long. We just walked around and found the preferred lounge and hung out for a bit.

We ate at Bordeaux two nights due to the onion soup was almost as good as Miranda’s which takes second place to the soup we had in Paris. El Patio had a margarita bar where I had a mango margarita and it was pretty good. The salsa and guacamole was good as well. The food was good, the steak was cooked perfect and was tender. We decided to eat Himitsu on the night it poured rain but it didn’t put a damper on the food. The dumplings were out of this world as well was the fried rice. It was so good we had to stop and get the appetizers here again before going to another restaurant to eat entrees. Portofino was good Italian food with good lasagna. The last night we had Seaside Grill and the grilled board mixer with 3 different types of steak, chicken, and 2 different types of sausages. It said it would feed 2 people but I think more like 6. Steak was cooked to perfection and this was the perfect location in the open air restaurant overlooking the pools glowing blue then onto the ocean.

The worst part was leaving, everyone was so friendly and always wanted to help with anything we needed. We got to be part of 4 weddings while here. I am not sure I have been to 4 weddings total, but it was nice to attend in swim trunks. One day we had a cabana which had a bed, table, and chairs under cover with lounge chairs out in the sun. We were provided a bottle of champaign and an ice chest full of water and anything else we wanted during the day. This also came with the taco tray with fruit. Steak, chicken and fish tacos, I could have just ate these tacos everyday that we were there.

This is a great resort with even better people working there. They seem to love their jobs. They seem to smile all the time, even when they think no one is noticing and that makes the whole trip so much better. If you have the opportunity to visit Punta Cana I will say this is THE resort to stay at.
